Frequently Asked Questions

Living & Care Options

What care options are available?

As we operate on a national scale, our care options vary by each community. Care options can include independent living, assisted living, family living, extended congregate care, memory care, rehabilitation and skilled nursing, Parkinson’s programming, home health, transitional care management, respite care, short-term stays, vacation rentals, pediatric care, and pre-school/day care. For more information, please visit our Senior Living and Health Care page.

What happens when my parents have different care needs?

Our communities’ licenses are unique in the industry. The licenses allow our communities to provide “a la carte” health care services to residents. This fiscally responsible approach lets residents pay for health care services they need, when they need them.

Do you offer any short-term stays?

Yes, many of our communities provide the option of short-term stays. A short-term or respite stay is a convenient option when planned or unforeseen circumstances occur such as a family vacation or recovery from an illness, or simply when the caregiver needs a break. Guests can receive assistance during an illness or rehabilitation after a hospital visit, and skilled nursing is offered for those needing more care. It can also serve as a great opportunity to try-out life at a community. For more information, please visit our Senior Living and Health Care page.

Do you offer rehabilitation or skilled nursing?

Yes, many of our communities offer comprehensive skilled nursing. For more information, please visit our Skilled Nursing page.

How is my level of care determined?

Upon move-in, our nurses and care team will assess your current health and review your medical history to see how we can best meet your needs. They will also discuss your preferences as well as your normal routines to develop a care plan that’s tailor made for you.

What training do staff members receive?

Every team members receives The Goodman Group’s Platinum Service® training and certification, embraces the program and promises to follow its 20 service standards.

Do you offer 24-hour nursing?

Amenities & Environment

How does the dining program work? Are residents given 3 meals a day? Are they able to eat only at mealtimes?

At all of our senior living and health care communities, you can experience Food for Life, The Goodman Group’s chef-driven, healthy culinary initiative. Food for Life serves residents healthy, organic, minimally processed, plant-based and locally sourced foods. We believe that a resident’s quality of life can be improved and extended as we transform our overall dining experience. Education is provided to our residents and families to assist them in choosing dining options. Each community does “tastings” on a regular basis to get feedback on potential new menu items. All recipes and menus have been designed to meet and exceed the guidelines for nutrition, flavor, quality and presentation.

Mealtimes vary by community. Many have restaurant-style dining, where residents can choose from a selection of menu options.

Will my loved one have access to transportation services for doctors’ visits, activities they participate in outside the community, church services, etc.?

Yes, transportation is provided at all of our communities. While the calendar of events varies at each, most include a day in each week where they take our residents shopping or sightseeing in the area. Communities also provide local transportation for doctors’ visits and other scheduled appointments.

Are there restrictions on visiting hours?

These communities are home for our residents, so we gladly welcome visitors and work with family and friends to visit their loved ones at a time that works best for everyone.

Do you allow pets? Can I bring my dog or cat with me?

Most of our communities are pet-friendly. Fees may apply, and all required vaccinations and licensing must be current. Size and temperament requirements vary by community.

Costs

How much does senior living cost?

The cost to live at a Goodman Group managed community is based on each resident’s individual circumstances and room rental fees, which vary by location. You may be surprised to learn that many people pay more by paying for individual mortgages, utilities, services and amenities than moving to a community in which all expenses are included.

What is included in the costs?

The base rate includes a range of different services at our diverse communities. To learn more, simply call us at 727-437-1600.

Making The Transition

What services do you have available to help my parent settle into their new life?

The move-in coordinator will conduct a new resident orientation and work with residents and family to answer any questions. Additionally, a resident “Welcoming Committee” greets new residents and invites them to the dining room, to activities, on outings, and more.

I feel my parents need to move, but they say they aren’t ready. What can I do to encourage this decision?

The decision to move to a senior living community is an important one, but it doesn’t have to be stressful. There are steps you can take to ensure you or your loved ones’ transition is smooth, comfortable, and seamless. To begin, know that the old vision of a “nursing home” no longer exists. Senior living communities take care of the stress of home maintenance, upkeep and daily chores like cooking and cleaning. And, assisted living does not always mean helping with dressing and bathing.

The Goodman Group managed communities are places for people to thrive, grow, experience new adventures, make new friends, and more, all the while enjoying the privacy and comfort of their own apartment home. What you can do to help your parents – whether their move is tomorrow or a year from now – is to ask why they feel they aren’t ready. We can help address their concerns, and make a future plan.

Tour our beautiful campus with them, experience the dining program, and talk with residents and staff. Once your parents see how their lives could be enriched, they will feel much more at ease with this decision. Each small step you take towards their future plan is a step in the right direction.
